Rangers v. Penguins Game 6 Recap

May 13, 2014 by Evan Vitale

Martin St. Louis and the Rangers come home to Madison Square Garden, looking to force a Game 7 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

St. Louis would get on the board quickly. After a shot by Stepan was bouncing through the crease, St. Louis was there to slap it into the back of the night.

The Rangers would score again in the first period. This time, Carl Hagelin flips a backhand shot from the left wing to make it two to nothing.

But back come the Penguins. Brandon Sutter flings a puck towards the goal, banking off a defender and sneaking its way past Lundqvist.

The rest of the game, however, scoring was hard to come by. Derick Brassard used a wrist shot to extend the Rangers lead to 3 to 1 late in the 2nd period. And that score would hold for the rest of the game.

Both teams are heading back to Pittsburgh. Game 7 will be held Tuesday night at 7pm.
