Recap Game 3: Rangers vs. Penguins

May 7, 2014 by Evan Vitale

Marc-Andre Fleury and the Pens take on Henriq Lundqvist and the Rangers in this game 3 matchup.

The Rangers replaced Carcillo and Dorsett in hopes of getting some more shots on goal after being shutout in game 2.

Lundqvist is appearing in his 77th career playoff game, the most for a Rangers goalie.

Sidney Crosby has been held scoreless for his last 13 playoff games… that would change shortly into the second period as his rips a shot past Lundqvist.

The Rangers, however, were getting a boatload of shots on goal. They outshot the Penguins 35 to 15 but could not find the back of the net.

Later in the 2nd period, Jokinen gets free on the breakaway and makes a deposit. That would make it 2-nothing Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh has dominated the 2nd period of all three games this series. That’s all they needed to pull out the victory, as we would have a scoreless third period.

Fleury records his second consecutive shutout. After starting out shaky in game one, the Penguins goalie has really turned it around. Game 4 will take place in Madison Square Garden Wednesday night at 7:30.
